Homogeneous 2 mm medical vinyl for hospitals and medical centers in Jeddah: PUR surface, antistatic, bacteria do not grow on it, with heat-welded seams and coved skirting up the wall. Polyflor and Gerflor Mipolam.
What medical vinyl is
Homogeneous vinyl, 2 mm thick: one layer from the surface all the way down, so the surface stays the same as it wears. A PUR layer on top makes it easier to clean and needs less polishing. It is not the ordinary PVC flooring laid in houses.
Why hospitals use it
Bacteria and fungi do not grow on it, tested to ISO 846. It is antistatic, under 2 kV, which matters in rooms full of equipment. Fire rated Bfl-s1, slip resistance R9, and classed for heavy use, class 34 and 43: corridors and rooms walked on all day.
Welded seams and coving
The seams between the sheets are heat welded with a welding rod, so the floor becomes one piece with no water or dirt getting in. The skirting curves up the wall instead of a sharp corner, so nothing collects there and one pass of the mop cleans it.
